HOW DOES HDK PRODUCE NONWOVENS?

We use carded thermal bonding technology. This process begins with carding of staple fibers to form a fibrous web or sheet of nonwoven fabric. Optional applications of adhesive powders, followed by lamination processes create composite materials to fit customer specifications.

By carefully selecting fiber types and blends as well as production processes, we can engineer many combinations of features into a nonwoven.

WHAT MAKES HDK NONWOVENS SO VERSATILE?

Most blends will use a sheath/core bicomponent fiber as the adhesive. These bicomponent fibers include polyester, polyethylene, polypropylene and other blends, all of which, carefully selected and balanced, allow us to engineer a wide variety of nonwovens to meet your specifications.

Adhesive powders can be added to the blend, bonding the selected fibers to create unique fabrics. In addition, HDK can bond layers of plastic film, scrim, knits or woven fabrics to the nonwoven layer, forming laminate or composite materials for a wide range of custom applications.

WHAT ARE THE CAPABILITIES OF HDK NONWOVENS?

Widths up to 135 inches (340 cm). Basis weight range of 0.5 – 5 osy. Thickness range from 3 mils to 200 mils. Layering and multi fiber blending.

ARE HDK’S PROCESSES ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY?

Yes. The manufacturing process at HDK is completely dry with no use of liquid chemicals. As a result, our production process is environmentally friendly.
